Even when I'm rejected, I am connected to everyone else that's been rejected. I tug on our ties when my hands are tied, Reel in life support with a flick of my eyes, I dig my heels in the earth and feel it hold, Wrap myself in sunlight when it gets cold. As I look up at the sky, the sun winks back; Even the heavens have my back. I lay in the grass and close my eyes. This will pass, this will subside. -Samirah Shri
